World Record Ultra-Endurance Runner

Tom Jones World Record Ultra-Endurance Runner

In 1998, Tom ran the entire length of California – from Oregon to Mexico on foot. This was Tom’s first cause-related extreme athletic event.  The “Tom Jones Child Abuse Awareness Run” was a distance of 1250 miles. The event raised awareness and contributed thousands of dollars for children’s causes.

In 1999, Tom ran the entire length of California again for child abuse causes. Along the route, Tom visited many children’s homes and at-risk children centers. Tom began public speaking in these homes and children came to him for support and motivation. Tom became an example of hope helping children to see that success and happiness can be achieved no matter what obstacles you face.

In 2000, Tom set a world ultra-endurance running record. Tom ran from his home in Huntington Beach, California, to New York City. At the pace of one marathon (26.2 miles) every day, Tom covered the distance in 120 consecutive days. On the day after arriving in New York City, Tom ran the New York City
Marathon in a competitive time of less than 4 hours.

In 2001, after 9/11, Tom ran the entire length California yet again to raise money to help NYC firefighters affected by the 911 tragedies.

In 2010, Tom continued his extreme cause-related events with a new world record for standup paddling – Key West to New York City – 1507 miles in 93 days. See “World Record Paddleboarder.

2011 and beyond – Tom continues to work with Ark Paddleboards and other manufacturers to develop high-performance SUP boards, paddles, gloves and other products to advance standup paddling. He also partners with other human performance experts and engineers to develop products for combat sports training and fitness. As always, Tom continues his training to maintain world-class condition. For Tom, there are more world records to come.  Anyone for standup paddling across the Pacific?
